Drone Club Rules and Guidelines

1. Safety First

  • Always prioritize safety when flying drones. Follow FAA regulations and local laws at all times.

  • Pilots must keep their drones within line of sight during operation.

  • Avoid flying drones over people, private property, or restricted areas without permission.

2. Drone Registration and Certification

  • Members must ensure their drones are registered with the FAA if required.

  • Any member flying drones that exceed 0.55 lbs must possess the appropriate certification (e.g., FAA Part 107 for commercial use).

3. Respect for Others and the Environment

  • Be considerate of other club members, respecting their space and equipment.

  • Avoid disruptive behavior, especially in shared flying spaces.

  • Clean up after yourself and take care of the environment where drones are flown.

4. No Reckless Flying

  • Reckless or dangerous flying is prohibited. This includes flying too close to people, animals, or vehicles.

  • Pilots must fly their drones at a safe altitude and maintain full control at all times.

5. Equipment Care and Responsibility

  • Members are responsible for the maintenance and proper operation of their own equipment.

  • Always check your drone and accessories before flying to ensure they are in safe working condition.

6. Compliance with Club Leadership

  • Follow instructions from club leaders, especially during group flying events, competitions, or training sessions.

  • If club officials ask you to stop flying for safety or rule violations, comply immediately.

7. Respectful Communication

  • Treat all members and guests with respect. Discrimination, harassment, or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.

  • Offer constructive feedback and support to fellow members.

8. Liability

  • Members are responsible for their own actions and the safe operation of their drones. The club is not liable for any accidents, injuries, or damages caused during club activities.

  • Make sure you have appropriate insurance if required for certain activities or flying areas.

9. Participation and Attendance

  • Members are encouraged to attend meetings regularly and actively participate in club events.

  • Notify club leaders in advance if you are unable to attend a meeting or event.

10. Fly Responsibly During Club Events

  • During club-sponsored events or flying sessions, members must adhere to designated flying areas and times.

  • Do not interfere with other members' flights or club demonstrations.

11. No Unauthorized Modifications

  • Do not fly drones with unauthorized or dangerous modifications that could pose a risk to yourself or others.

12. Reporting Issues

  • Report any technical problems, safety concerns, or rule violations to club leadership promptly.

By adhering to these rules, all members can enjoy a safe, respectful, and fun environment in which to learn and grow as drone pilots. Repeated violations may result in suspension or termination of membership.
