How we got started at Drone Flight School

The Drone Flight School, proudly funded by the Franklin Center for Innovation, began as a bold vision to bring cutting-edge STEM education to students and adults in our region. Born from a shared belief that the future belongs to those who can navigate both the skies and the technologies that power them, the program launched with a mission to make drone and aviation education accessible, hands-on, and exciting. With strong community support and a deep commitment from educators and innovators alike, the school quickly took off—quite literally—offering learners the chance to explore flight, engineering, and real-world applications of science and math.

Our devotion to youth and career-switchers is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it's middle schoolers flying drones for the first time or adults preparing for the FAA Part 107 certification to launch new careers, the Drone Flight School meets students where they are and helps them soar. By blending creativity, technical skill, and purpose, we open doors to industries like robotics, surveying, cinematography, emergency response, and beyond. More than just flying drones, students are learning to think like engineers, collaborate like professionals, and see their futures through a lens of possibility.

We are deeply grateful to our partners, whose collaboration and support have made this work possible. Special thanks to the Franklin Center for Innovation for championing this effort, and to our dedicated Executive Director Jason Allen, whose leadership, passion, and relentless pursuit of equity in STEM education continue to guide and inspire us. Together, we're not just teaching flight—we're elevating lives.
